Telecom operator introduces advanced indoor connectivity system and customer facilitation desk at Pakistan’s busiest aviation hub
ISLAMABAD: Zong, Pakistan’s leading technology services provider, has begun deploying its exclusive 5G-ready Indoor Building Solution (IBS) at Islamabad International Airport, becoming the only telecom operator to introduce the advanced connectivity infrastructure at the facility.
The initiative aims to enhance indoor network coverage across passenger terminals, enabling travellers to access seamless high-speed connectivity while supporting Pakistan’s transition towards next-generation digital infrastructure.
Alongside the network deployment, Zong has established a Customer Facilitation Desk at the airport to provide passengers with instant SIM activation, data services and dedicated on-ground support.

Zong said the deployment will improve connectivity for millions of passengers using Islamabad International Airport by delivering a more reliable indoor network experience.
The company said the project represents a major step in developing future-ready digital infrastructure and strengthening Pakistan’s digital ecosystem.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by senior officials from Zong, the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) and Huawei Global, reflecting collaboration between telecom and aviation stakeholders to advance digital transformation.

Speaking at the ceremony, Zong Chief Technical Officer Mao Weiliang said connectivity has evolved beyond traditional communication and has become a foundation for intelligent travel, digital services and economic development.
He said Zong, together with its partners, is developing a future-ready 5G digital ecosystem at Islamabad International Airport that will enhance current passenger services while supporting smart aviation solutions in the future.
Zong Executive Director Sales & Distribution Faheem Durrani said the combination of the Customer Facilitation Desk and advanced connectivity infrastructure would help passengers stay connected while improving service delivery.
He added that Zong remains committed to expanding access to innovative technology solutions and creating greater value for customers across Pakistan.

Islamabad International Airport Manager Aftab Gillani said modern travellers increasingly expect airports to provide seamless digital experiences alongside physical infrastructure.
