Pakistan’s telecom sector is taking another step toward next-generation connectivity as Zong partners with global smartphone giant Samsung to introduce a new trade-in initiative aimed at accelerating 5G smartphone adoption in the country.

The collaboration includes a specialized Shop-in-Shop retail concept alongside a cost-effective trade-in program that allows customers to exchange their older, non-5G Samsung devices for the latest Samsung 5G smartphones. The initiative is designed to lower the cost barrier for users who want to upgrade to next-generation devices but are still using legacy smartphones.

The program has initially been launched at selected Zong Customer Service Centers in Islamabad and Lahore. Through the Shop-in-Shop model, customers can explore and purchase the newest Samsung 5G-compatible smartphones in dedicated experience zones set up inside Zong’s retail outlets.

These zones provide a hands-on environment where visitors can interact directly with Samsung’s latest flagship devices and experience their features in a live network setting. The setup aims to help consumers better understand the benefits of 5G technology while making informed upgrade decisions.

To further support the transition toward advanced connectivity, the trade-in program allows eligible customers to exchange older Samsung devices and receive value toward the purchase of new 5G smartphones. This approach significantly reduces the upfront cost of upgrading, making modern devices more accessible to a wider group of users.

Speaking about the initiative, Sajid Munir said the partnership represents a proactive effort to build a stronger 5G ecosystem in Pakistan. According to him, providing direct access to Samsung 5G devices combined with a convenient trade-in solution enables customers to fully benefit from emerging connectivity technologies.

The collaboration also highlights Zong’s broader strategy of integrating connectivity services with device accessibility under one platform. By offering both affordable and premium 5G smartphones in a single retail environment, the company aims to accelerate the migration of its subscriber base to next-generation technology.

Currently available in Islamabad and Lahore, the Shop-in-Shop and trade-in initiatives are expected to expand to additional cities in the future as Zong continues to strengthen Pakistan’s growing 5G ecosystem and digital infrastructure.
