Rupee gains 24 paisas against dollar

KARACHI: The Pak Rupee gained 24 paisas against dollar on Wednesday owing to optimistic remarks on the economy by the governor of State Bank of Pakistan on the other day.

The rupee ended Rs159.82 to the dollar from previous day’s closing of Rs160.06 in interbank foreign exchange market.

The foreign currency market was initiated in the range of Rs159.20 and Rs159.50. The market recorded day high of Rs159.85 and low of Rs159.35 and closed at Rs159.82.

The SBP governor a day earlier while announcing the monetary policy said that the economy would witness improvement in coming days owing to efforts of the present government.

The exchange rate in the open market also witnessed appreciation in rupee value.

The buying and selling of dollar recorded at Rs159.3/Rs160.30 from previous day’s closing of Rs160.00/Rs160.50 in cash ready market.
