GWM Tank500

Great Wall Motors (GWM) has officially revealed pricing details for the highly anticipated 2026 Tank 500 Hi4-T plug-in hybrid SUV, which will serve as the flagship model in the Tank 500 lineup.

Pricing and Early Bird Offer

The new Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV is priced at $79,990 drive-away, making it the most expensive variant in the Tank 500 family.

However, GWM has introduced a limited-time early bird offer for buyers placing their orders before December 31, 2025.

Under this promotion, the SUV will be available at $77,990 for private customers and $76,990 for ABN holders.

Performance and Powertrain

At its heart, the Tank 500 Hi4-T features a 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder petrol engine paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission integrated with an electric motor.

Combined, the system delivers an impressive 300kW of power and 750Nm of torque, allowing the SUV to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 6.9 seconds.

A 37.11kWh nickel manganese cobalt battery pack supports the hybrid system, offering up to 120km of electric-only range under NEDC testing standards.

The battery supports 50kW DC fast charging and provides 6kW vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability, enabling owners to power small devices and appliances directly from the SUV.

Design and Seating

To accommodate the large battery, the Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV comes exclusively as a five-seater, as the third row of seats has been removed.

Despite this change, the SUV retains its rugged DNA, offering true mechanical four-wheel drive, low-range gearing, and three locking differentials.

It boasts an approach angle of 30 degrees, breakover of 22.5 degrees, and departure angle of 24 degrees, with a wading depth of 800mm. Ground clearance stands at 213mm, slightly lower than the standard hybrid models.

Technology and Features

While the full specifications will be revealed at its official launch on October 7, GWM has confirmed several premium features.

These include a 14.6-inch infotainment display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a head-up display, 360-degree camera system, panoramic sunroof, adaptive cruise control, and heated and ventilated front seats with eight-way power adjustment.

Warranty and Color Options

The Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV will be offered in Marble White as standard, with Crystal Black, Onyx Silver, and Dune Gold available for an additional $595.

Interior options include standard black upholstery or a Blue and Cream theme with select exterior colors.

Buyers will benefit from a seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, seven years of roadside assistance, and an eight-year high-voltage battery warranty.

The Tank 500 Hi4-T PHEV promises to combine luxury, off-road capability, and electrified performance, making it a standout choice in the premium hybrid SUV segment.
