The all-new 8th Gen Hyundai Elantra debuts in South Korea with bold styling, advanced AI-powered infotainment, and updated hybrid technology ahead of its global rollout.
Hyundai has officially revealed the 8th Gen Hyundai Elantra, showcasing a dramatic redesign that introduces futuristic styling, upgraded technology, and improved hybrid performance.
The new model made its global debut under the Avante nameplate at the 2026 Busan Auto Show in South Korea, giving enthusiasts their first look at the sedan’s bold transformation.
The eighth-generation Elantra represents the model’s first complete redesign since 2021. Featuring sharp, angular lines and a more aggressive appearance, the latest sedan adopts Hyundai’s evolving design language with a look that resembles a concept car straight from a science-fiction film.
Sharper Exterior with Aggressive Styling
The front fascia has been completely reworked with a more angular grille replacing the outgoing model’s wider design. Slim vertical LED headlights integrate seamlessly into the sculpted body, creating a distinctive and modern face.
Hyundai has also eliminated the previous model’s Z-shaped body creases in favor of cleaner, straighter character lines. More pronounced front and rear fenders, a contrasting black B-pillar, and uniquely styled five-spoke alloy wheels further enhance the sedan’s athletic profile.
At the rear, the new Elantra retains the signature ducktail spoiler while adopting a cleaner and more squared-off design. Vertical taillights connected by horizontal lighting elements echo the styling of the front, giving the sedan a cohesive appearance.
Modern Cabin Packed with Smart Features
Inside, Hyundai has completely revamped the cabin with a cleaner layout and more advanced technology. The centerpiece is a larger central touchscreen running the brand’s latest Pleos Connect infotainment system, which now includes the AI-powered Gleo chatbot for enhanced driver interaction.
The traditional gear selector has been relocated behind the steering wheel, freeing additional storage space in the center console.
While the number of physical controls has been reduced, Hyundai has retained dedicated buttons for climate control and media functions, offering greater convenience for everyday driving.
Gasoline and Hybrid Powertrains
The 8th Gen Elantra will continue offering a 147-horsepower 2.0-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine. Buyers seeking better efficiency can opt for a newly developed hybrid system featuring a 1.6-liter engine paired with dual electric motors, producing a combined 155 horsepower.
Hyundai has yet to announce updated N Line or high-performance Elantra N variants, although enthusiasts expect sportier versions to follow in the future.
Launch Timeline
The new Avante will arrive in South Korean dealerships later this year, while the international 2027 Hyundai Elantra is expected to reach the United States in 2027.
The comprehensive redesign positions the sedan to compete more aggressively in the global compact car segment with its striking design, smarter technology, and improved electrified powertrain.
