In response, Australia successfully negotiated the solitary over bowled by Sajid Khan, concluding the day trailing by 307 runs behind Pakistan’s first-innings score.
In his third Test appearance, Aamir stole the limelight with an impressive counterattack, accumulating 82 runs off 97 deliveries, featuring nine boundaries and four sixes. His entry at a challenging 220-7 situation turned the tide, propelling Pakistan to a competitive total.
The resilient last-wicket partnership between Aamir and Mir Hamza frustrated Australia, as they combined for 86 runs from 133 deliveries.
While Hamza displayed solid defense to remain unbeaten at seven from 43 balls, Aamir took charge, punishing the opposition before finally succumbing to Nathan Lyon, receiving a standing ovation for his impactful innings.
Pakistan faced early setbacks in the morning session, stumbling to 47-4 after skipper Shan Masood opted to bat first. Salman continued the positive approach post-tea, contributing 53 off 67 deliveries before falling victim to Starc’s short-ball tactics.
Captain Cummins further showcased his bowling prowess, securing a five-wicket haul and dismissing Hasan Ali for a five-ball duck. Australia will resume their first-innings reply tomorrow, with openers Usman Khawaja and David Warner, in his farewell Test, set to take the crease.
