Abrar Ahmed rises to career-best 4th while Shaheen Afridi moves up in latest ICC ODI bowling rankings
Pakistan bowlers Abrar Ahmed and Shaheen Shah Afridi have made notable gains in the latest International Cricket Council (ICC) ODI Player Rankings following strong performances in the recent series against Australia.
The latest update reflects the impact of Pakistan’s bowling efforts in the ODI matches played in Rawalpindi and Lahore, where bowlers played a decisive role in restricting Australia’s batting lineup.
Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed emerged as one of the biggest movers, climbing seven places to a career-best fourth position in the ODI bowling rankings with 633 rating points. His rise follows consistent performances in the series, where he picked up two wickets in each of the two matches.
Pakistan’s pace spearhead Shaheen Shah Afridi also advanced in the rankings, moving up four places to 13th with 593 rating points. He took four wickets across the series and remained a key figure in Pakistan’s bowling attack.
Among other notable movers, Australia fast bowler Nathan Ellis jumped 24 places to 44th after taking six wickets in the series.
In the ODI batting rankings, Australia’s Matt Renshaw made significant progress, rising more than 100 places to 78th after scores of 43 and 61. Josh Inglis and Cameron Green also improved their positions, moving to 57th and 63rd respectively.
For Pakistan, Salman Ali Agha slipped five places to 14th in the ODI batting rankings, dropping out of the top 10.
Meanwhile, in Test cricket updates, New Zealand’s victory over Ireland in a one-off match also influenced the rankings. Rachin Ravindra entered the top 10 Test batters for the first time, moving up to ninth after scoring 121 runs.
Tom Blundell also climbed eight places to 40th after his match-winning innings of 186, reflecting strong performances in the longest format of the game.
