Abu Dhabi, October 14, 2025 — Afghanistan achieved a historic clean sweep over Bangladesh in the One-Day International (ODI) series, securing a massive 200-run victory in the third and final match at the Zayed Cricket Stadium on Tuesday.
With this win, Afghanistan completed their first-ever ODI series whitewash against Bangladesh, showcasing dominance in both batting and bowling.
Batting first, Afghanistan posted an impressive total of 293 runs for the loss of nine wickets in 50 overs. Ibrahim Zadran led the charge with a solid 95-run knock, while Mohammad Nabi and Rahmanullah Gurbaz added crucial contributions of 62 and 42 runs, respectively. Despite a brief middle-order collapse, Afghanistan’s late surge—powered by Nabi’s unbeaten half-century—propelled the team to a commanding total.
Bangladesh’s bowlers struggled to contain the Afghan batters in the final overs, conceding 44 runs in just two overs. Saif Hassan was the standout performer for Bangladesh, taking three wickets for six runs and later scoring 43 runs with the bat. However, his lone effort could not rescue Bangladesh from a crushing defeat.
In response, Bangladesh collapsed to just 93 runs all out in 27.1 overs. Bilal Sami’s exceptional five-wicket haul dismantled the batting order, while Rashid Khan’s sharp spin claimed three key wickets. Their combined effort sealed the 3-0 victory for Afghanistan and underscored the team’s growing strength in international cricket.
Once Saif Hassan was dismissed, Bangladesh’s innings crumbled rapidly, unable to withstand the relentless pressure from Afghanistan’s bowlers. The Afghan attack, led by Bilal Sami and Rashid Khan, was ruthless—executing precise line and length that left Bangladesh without answers.
This triumph is a defining moment for Afghanistan, reaffirming their emergence as a powerful force in ODI cricket. With balanced contributions from both bat and ball, the Afghan team demonstrated superior skill, discipline, and teamwork to outclass Bangladesh across all three matches.
