The Albanian music industry is in deep mourning following the unexpected death of beloved pop star Shpat Kasapi, who passed away at the age of 40 after suffering a sudden heart attack.
According to Daily Star, the singer died on Wednesday in Monza, Italy, where he had traveled with his wife, Selvije Jao, to seek medical treatment for their young son, Roel. The news has sent shockwaves through Albania and the wider Balkan entertainment community, where Kasapi was widely admired for his voice, charm, and long-running musical career.
Wife Shares Heartbreaking Tribute
Kasapi’s wife, Selvije, confirmed the tragic news through an emotional Instagram post, revealing that her husband died in her arms.
“You left us here alone, without you,” she wrote, sharing a touching photo of Kasapi holding their son. In another part of her message, she expressed her grief and disbelief:
“You died in my arms… You always told me you would love me until death do us part. Why did you die in my arms? Why did you break my heart like this, my love?”
She concluded her heartfelt tribute by saying,
“I hope to meet you in Heaven. God wanted you close to him, but I can’t wait to wake up from this nightmare and find you here with us again.”
Tributes From Across the Music World
International pop star Bebe Rexha, who shares Albanian heritage, also paid tribute. She posted a video of Kasapi singing, accompanied by a white dove emoji and the Albanian flag, symbolizing peace and national pride.
A Celebrated Career in Albanian Music
Kasapi married Selvije in 2021, and the couple lived in Tirana, Albania. They first met during the filming of one of his music videos.
Rising to prominence in the early 2000s, Shpat Kasapi produced multiple chart-topping hits, becoming a beloved figure in both Albanian and Kosovan music circles. Some of his most popular songs include:
• Ajo Me Mungon (I Miss Her)
• Valle Kosovare (Kosovar Dance)
• Dashni Pa Limit (Love Without Limits)
• Aroma e Saj (Her Aroma)
Kasapi’s sudden passing marks a major loss for the region’s music industry, and tributes continue to pour in from fans, artists, and public figures across the Balkans.
