Alcaraz Holds No.1, Vondrousova Surges in Rankings

Carlos Alcaraz and Marketa Vondrousova achieved remarkable success at Wimbledon, resulting in significant changes to their rankings.

Alcaraz remains the top-ranked player in the ATP rankings for the 29th consecutive week, while Vondrousova’s outstanding performance has propelled her to the No. 10 position in the WTA rankings.

Alcaraz’s stunning victory over Djokovic in the Wimbledon final, with a score of 1-6, 7-6 (6), 6-4, 3-6, 6-4, marked the third major tournament in the past four where the men’s title match has determined the No. 1 ranking.

On the women’s side, Vondrousova’s triumphant run at Wimbledon has resulted in a significant leap in her ranking, reaching a career-high No. 10 in the WTA rankings.

Her impressive win against Ons Jabeur in the final allowed her to soar 32 places from her previous ranking of No. 42. Vondrousova, a talented 24-year-old player from the Czech Republic, made history as the first unseeded and lowest-ranked women’s champion in Wimbledon’s grass-court major.

While the top seven positions in the women’s rankings remained unchanged, Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon champion, maintained her No. 3 spot.

Jessica Pegula, Caroline Garcia, Ons Jabeur, and Coco Gauff also held their positions in the top seven. Notably, Elina Svitolina made an impressive comeback from maternity leave, climbing an impressive 49 places from No. 76 to No. 27 after her strong performance in the semifinals.

Within the men’s rankings, Chris Eubanks, a 27-year-old American player, experienced a remarkable surge, achieving a personal best of No. 31, up from his previous career-high of No. 43. Eubanks’ exceptional performance at Wimbledon, including victories over the No. 5 seed Stefanos Tsitsipas and No. 12 seed Cameron Norrie, earned him a spot in his first major quarterfinal. However, he ultimately fell short against No. 3 Daniil Medvedev.

Overall, the ATP rankings saw no changes in the top 13 positions following Wimbledon, with Carlos Alcaraz maintaining his dominant hold on the No. 1 spot for the 29th consecutive week.
