Allu Arjun’s latest blockbuster, Pushpa 2: The Rule, continues its impressive box office journey, breaking records across the globe.
Directed by Sukumar, the film has amassed $205 million worldwide, according to producers Mythri Movie Makers. In the US alone, the film has grossed over $15 million, cementing its status as a massive hit.
Released on December 5, Pushpa 2: The Rule hit theatres in multiple languages, including Telugu, Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, and Hindi.
The film features a star-studded cast, including Rashmika Mandanna, Fahadh Faasil, Jagapathi Babu, and Anasuya Bharadwaj in pivotal roles. With music composed by Devi Sri Prasad and cinematography by Mirosław Kuba Brożek, the film was produced on a budget of $58 million.
Despite stiff competition from major releases such as Baby John and Mufasa: The Lion King, Pushpa 2 has dominated the box office, emerging as the top-grossing Indian film of 2024. Prior to its release, the film generated more than $10 million in advance ticket sales worldwide, setting the stage for a record-breaking opening.
On its release day, it raked in $34.7 million globally, marking the highest opening for an Indian film in 2024 and the best opening ever for an Indian movie. This broke the previous record held by SS Rajamouli’s RRR, which opened with $29.4 million.
The film also recorded the highest opening for both Allu Arjun and Sukumar, collecting $19.5 million in India on its first day alone. Within a week, Pushpa 2 had surpassed the $125 million milestone globally and $96.8 million in the Indian market.
In a notable achievement, the Hindi version of Pushpa 2 surpassed its Telugu counterpart, grossing $66 million in just ten days. By the end of its third week, the Hindi version outpaced the Telugu version, demonstrating the film’s widespread appeal.
Additionally, Pushpa 2 made its way onto the Comscore global list of top-scoring films for the weekend ending December 8 and remained in the top five during the weekend of December 15, further solidifying its global success.
