American Horror Story S13 brings back iconic characters in terrifying teaser

Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Emma Roberts, Angela Bassett and Evan Peters are among the stars returning for the highly anticipated season.

American Horror Story is returning with a chilling new season, bringing back several fan-favourite characters from across the franchise.

FX unveiled the highly anticipated teaser trailer for American Horror Story Season 13 on Thursday, August 13, giving fans their first look at the upcoming instalment and confirming the return of several iconic characters.

The new season will feature Jessica Lange as Constance Langdon, Sarah Paulson as Cordelia Goode, Emma Roberts as Madison Montgomery, Angela Bassett as Marie Laveau and Evan Peters as Kai Anderson.

The teaser will also bring back some of the franchise’s most terrifying figures, including John Carroll Lynch as Twisty the Clown and the Rubber Man.

American Horror Story Season 13 features dual roles

Ryan Murphy has teased an unusual element of the upcoming season, revealing that some actors will portray two characters from different seasons in the same scene.

Speaking to Variety, Murphy said some performers will even interact with their own characters.

“Some of the actors will be playing two characters from two different seasons in the same scene,” Murphy said.

He added that Evan Peters at one point played two different characters while effectively talking to himself, describing the process as “really fun and tricky”.

Murphy also revealed that the new season draws inspiration from some of the franchise’s most popular instalments, including Murder House, Asylum, Coven, Freak Show and Cult.

The ensemble cast also includes Avantika, Jamie Brewer, Elle Chapman, Berto Colon, Alex Consani, Frances Conroy, Mat Fraser, Seth Gabel, Orlando Jones, Paul Anthony Kelly, Tig Notaro, Madelaine Petsch, Fedor Steer, Mena Suvari, Zach Villa and John Waters.

American Horror Story Season 13 release date

The anthology series first premiered on October 5, 2011, and has since featured different characters and locations while exploring various aspects of horror.

The 13-episode Season 13 will premiere on September 24, 2026, at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT on FX and Hulu.

The premiere night and the second week will each feature three episodes. Two episodes will then be released every Thursday, leading to the 13th and final episode on October 29, 2026.
