Sazgar Engineering Works Limited (SAZEW) is making major strides in Pakistan’s SUV and pickup truck market with the introduction of its new Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV) lineup.
Among the upcoming releases, analysts at Topline Securities have identified the GWM Tank 500 as a potential upgrade for current Toyota Fortuner users, positioning it as a strong competitor to high-end SUVs like the Toyota Land Cruiser.
The Tank 500 Hi4-T 4X4 2.0L Turbo AT PHEV is a full-size luxury SUV equipped with advanced off-road capabilities and electrified power.
This makes it a top contender for those seeking both rugged performance and modern hybrid efficiency. According to analysts, the Tank 500 is set to challenge the Fortuner’s dominance by offering enhanced technology, size, and comfort.
Sazgar has also unveiled plans for the Cannon Alpha Hi4-T 4X4 2.0L Turbo AT PHEV, a hybrid pickup truck built to compete directly with market leaders like the Toyota Hilux, BYD Shark, and JAC Hunter.
Analysts view the Cannon Alpha as a smart blend of utility and fuel efficiency, ideal for both personal and commercial use.
These models are part of Sazgar’s broader strategy to expand its hybrid lineup, following the success of the Haval H6. The company has officially opened pre-bookings for the Haval H6 Hi4 1.5L AT AWD Turbo PHEV, with a price tag of Rs12.895 million.
This is approximately 9.7% higher than the H6 hybrid variant currently priced at Rs11.75 million. The vehicle is expected to roll out starting August 2025.
The Haval H6 already holds a strong position in Pakistan’s SUV market, and the PHEV variant is expected to further drive sales growth. In a report dated July 14, 2025, analysts increased Sazgar’s monthly sales forecast, citing these new hybrid introductions as key growth drivers.
Looking ahead, Sazgar plans to launch both the Tank 500 and Cannon Alpha PHEV models before March 2026, further diversifying its eco-friendly portfolio.
With this strategic expansion into hybrid SUVs and trucks, Sazgar is poised to reshape Pakistan’s automotive landscape.
