Angelina Jolie Embraces a Decade of Facing Her Fears

Entertainment World

Angelina Jolie has recently declared that this is her “decade of doing what scares” her. Speaking at the 2025 Golden Globe Awards red carpet with Access Hollywood, the iconic Maleficent actress opened up about stepping out of her comfort zone, particularly when it came to singing opera for her role in the movie Maria.

“It was so daunting. You know, when the fear is so big, and yet the possibility of doing it is real, you almost feel calm,” shared the 49-year-old star. Reflecting on the experience, Angelina described performing on the prestigious stage at Lascala as “beyond anything” she had ever imagined herself doing. “I was almost giddy because it was such an extraordinary challenge—completely out of my comfort zone,” she said.

When asked about what scared her most, Jolie candidly revealed, “Opera scared me. Failing Maria Callas and the people who deeply admire her really terrified me.” Despite the fear, she found the challenge exhilarating. “This was a big fear, but it’s fun. I mean, what are we alive for if not to confront our fears, get our hearts racing, and attempt things we’re unsure of?”

Angelina also mentioned her recent completion of a French-language film. “It’s my first time performing entirely in French,” said the Wanted actress. “My mother spoke French, but I’m not fluent. Taking on scenes in another language was incredibly intimidating.” However, she saw it as part of her ongoing commitment to personal growth. “This is my decade of doing what scares me,” she declared.

Beyond her professional challenges, Jolie reflected on her relationship with her six children, now growing older. “They’ve become my advisors,” she shared with a smile. “I’m so proud of them. They’re smart, capable individuals, and I love seeing them mature into themselves.”

With her fearless approach to tackling new ventures and her deep connection with her family, Angelina Jolie continues to inspire fans worldwide as she embarks on this bold, transformative chapter of her life.
