Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 series is set to be officially unveiled in September 2025, and new leaks suggest the tech giant has several major upgrades in store.
According to a recent report, all four iPhone 17 models — including the standard and Pro variants — will feature high refresh rate displays for smoother scrolling and enhanced visual performance.
However, there will still be a distinction between the base and premium models. The standard iPhone 17 is expected to lack an LTPO OLED panel, meaning it won’t support adaptive refresh rates like the Pro versions. This feature, available on LTPO panels, allows the screen to dynamically adjust its refresh rate to save battery life.
A19 Pro Chip Promises Major Performance Boost
The biggest upgrade for the iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max will be under the hood. The new Apple A19 Pro chip, manufactured using TSMC’s N3P process, is rumored to deliver significant performance gains.
According to a trusted source on Weibo, the A19 Pro scores over 4,000 in single-core and more than 10,000 in multi-core tests on Geekbench 6.
This represents a 15% boost in single-core and a 17% increase in multi-core performance compared to the A18 Pro chip in the iPhone 16 Pro Max, which achieved 3,490 and 8,606 respectively.
The A19 Pro will go head-to-head with rival chips like the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite 2 and the MediaTek Dimensity 9500, both of which are also set to debut in September.
All three chips use the same advanced N3P fabrication process, promising a competitive showdown in the flagship smartphone space.
With smoother displays across the lineup and a powerhouse A19 Pro chip in the Pro models, the iPhone 17 series is shaping up to be one of Apple’s most exciting releases yet. Stay tuned as more official details emerge ahead of the September launch.
