Apple has officially introduced the iPhone Air, a device that brings back memories of the MacBook Air’s revolutionary design.
Touted as the thinnest iPhone ever, the Air measures just 5.6mm in thickness, making it one of the sleekest smartphones on the market today.
When placed on top of the iPhone 17 Pro Max, the 3.2mm difference in thickness is striking. However, with the camera plateau—or bump—the total thickness rises to 11.3mm. Still, the design feels remarkably well-balanced in hand, with Apple fitting most key components into that compact camera housing.
The iPhone Air features a single 48MP rear camera, which Apple claims delivers the performance of four lenses. While this setup might seem modest compared to the multi-camera competition, Apple has paired it with dedicated Camera and Action buttons for quick functionality.
Our review unit comes in Sky Blue, a color that often appears closer to white depending on the lighting. Unboxing the device reveals a slimmer box compared to other iPhone 17 models, though Apple continues to limit accessories to just a braided USB-C cable.
Weighing just 165 grams, the iPhone Air feels exceptionally light. It’s also the only 2025 iPhone to feature a titanium frame, giving it both durability and a polished, premium look reminiscent of the iPhone 12 Pro, 13 Pro, and 14 Pro generations.
The 6.5-inch LTPO Super Retina XDR OLED display strikes a balance between compact and oversized models. With ProMotion technology offering a variable 1-120Hz refresh rate, users can expect smooth performance and vibrant visuals.
Powering the iPhone Air is Apple’s A19 Pro chip with 12GB RAM, similar to the iPhone 17 Pro models, though slightly less powerful. Questions remain on how well the Air manages heat without a vapor chamber, as well as whether Apple’s promise of “all-day battery life” holds up under real-world use.
Available in 256GB and 512GB storage options, the iPhone Air starts at £999 in the UK and €1,199 in Europe. With its groundbreaking slim design, titanium frame, and balanced features, the iPhone Air is shaping up to be one of Apple’s most intriguing devices in years.
