Fresh leaks have shed more light on Apple’s long-rumored foldable smartphone, widely referred to as the iPhone Fold.

According to new information shared by a reliable tipster, the device could make its official debut in September this year, marking Apple’s first entry into the foldable phone market.

Tipster Instant Digital, posting on China’s Weibo platform, has revealed several key design elements of the iPhone Fold. One of the most notable changes is the placement of the volume buttons, which are said to be positioned on the top-right edge of the device.

This layout closely resembles the button arrangement seen on the iPad mini. The reason behind this design choice is reportedly linked to the internal motherboard placement, which is said to sit on the right side. Apple is believed to have avoided routing internal cables across the device to maintain a cleaner and more efficient internal structure.

In addition to the volume buttons, the power button with integrated Touch ID is also expected to be located on the right edge. The Camera Control button, recently introduced on newer iPhone models, is likewise rumored to sit on the same side. Interestingly, the left edge of the iPhone Fold is said to be completely free of buttons, giving the device a minimal and uncluttered appearance.

On the front, the foldable iPhone is expected to feature a single punch-hole camera for selfies and video calls, rather than Apple’s traditional Dynamic Island. Around the back, the device will reportedly sport a dual-camera setup housed in an iPhone Air–style camera plateau. The camera module is said to include an LED flash and a microphone for improved video and audio recording.

The leak also suggests that the rear camera module will be finished entirely in black, creating a contrast with the body instead of blending in. Apple is rumored to offer the iPhone Fold in at least two color options at launch, including a white variant.

Internally, the iPhone Fold is said to use a stacked design, allowing Apple to fit a larger battery despite the compact foldable form factor. If these details prove accurate, Apple’s first foldable could deliver a unique blend of familiar design choices and innovative engineering.
