Apple is reportedly preparing a major transformation of Siri, turning its long-standing voice assistant into a full-fledged chatbot with upcoming software releases.

Following recent confirmation that Google’s Gemini will play a role in Siri’s next-generation upgrade, a new report now claims Apple plans to introduce a chatbot-style Siri with iOS 27, macOS 27, and iPadOS 27.

According to a Bloomberg report, Apple is internally developing a new Siri experience under the codename “Campos.” This revamped assistant is expected to replace the current version of Siri entirely and function more like modern AI chatbots such as ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Unlike today’s Siri, which mainly responds to short commands, the new chatbot Siri will reportedly support more natural, conversational interactions.

The report suggests that the chatbot-style Siri will exist as a standalone app built directly into Apple devices. Users will still be able to activate it using the familiar “Hey Siri” wake word or by pressing and holding the side button on iPhones and iPads. However, the underlying experience is expected to feel significantly more advanced and interactive.

Powering the new Siri chatbot will be a custom Apple model based on Google’s Gemini technology. With this foundation, Siri is said to gain a wide range of AI-powered capabilities. These reportedly include performing web searches, answering complex questions, summarizing long text, analyzing uploaded documents and on-screen content, and even generating images. The assistant will also be able to control device settings and use personal data for certain contextual tasks, similar to Apple’s existing on-device intelligence approach.

Another key upgrade mentioned in the report is deeper integration across Apple’s ecosystem. The new Siri chatbot will reportedly be able to access in-app content across Apple’s own apps, allowing it to complete actions directly within apps rather than simply providing suggestions or links. This could make Siri far more useful for productivity, communication, and daily tasks.

The chatbot is expected to support both voice and text-based interactions. However, it may not initially offer persistent memory features found in some competing AI chatbots, meaning conversations may not carry long-term context across sessions.

Bloomberg reports that Apple is likely to officially unveil the new Siri chatbot at WWDC 2026, marking one of the most significant updates to Siri since its original launch.
