Apple has increased the prices of several existing iPhone models by $100 following the launch of its latest Pro lineup and first foldable iPhone, citing pressure from the global memory supply crunch.

Apple has quietly increased the prices of several existing iPhone models shortly after unveiling the iPhone 18 Pro series and its first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo.

The price increase affects the iPhone 17, iPhone 17e, iPhone Air and iPhone 16, with each model now costing $100 more than its original launch price in the US.

The standard iPhone 17 now starts at $899, while the iPhone 17e begins at $699. The iPhone Air has increased to $1,099, and the 128GB base version of the iPhone 16 now costs $799.

The increases also apply across other markets where the affected iPhone models remain available, marking an unusual move for Apple following the launch of a new generation.

Rare Price Increase for Existing iPhones

Apple has traditionally reduced the prices of previous-generation iPhones after introducing new models. However, the latest move represents a departure from that strategy, with the company reportedly facing higher component costs due to an ongoing memory supply crunch.

The company has already implemented price increases across several other product categories, including Macs, iPads and HomePods.

The latest adjustments could make older iPhone models less attractive to buyers who were expecting them to become cheaper following the arrival of the iPhone 18 series.

iPhone Prices Rise in India

Apple has also raised prices in India.

The iPhone 17 now starts at INR 99,900, equivalent to around $1,050, while the iPhone Air begins at INR 149,900, or approximately $1,575.

The iPhone 17e now carries a starting price of INR 79,900, equivalent to about $840. Meanwhile, the iPhone 16 starts at INR 89,900, or approximately $945, for its base configuration.

The price revisions come as Apple expands its latest smartphone portfolio while managing rising costs across its hardware supply chain.
