Apple has officially released the iOS 26.1 Beta 2 update for iPhones, alongside the second developer betas for its other major operating systems, including iPadOS, macOS, watchOS, tvOS, and visionOS.
The latest beta focuses on refinements, interface updates, and enhanced functionality across Apple devices.
The iOS 26.1 Beta 2 brings several UI improvements, performance optimizations, and bug fixes, making the overall user experience smoother. One of the most notable changes is a redesigned interaction for Alarms and Timers — instead of tapping to stop them, users will now see a new “Slide to Stop” button, offering a more intuitive way to dismiss alerts.
Apple has also added a new privacy and security feature within the Settings menu. Users can now enable a toggle that allows their iPhones to automatically download and install critical security patches, ensuring devices remain protected without manual intervention. In addition, the Fitness app has gained the ability to create custom workouts, giving users more control over their exercise routines.
The iPadOS 26.1 Beta 2 update also introduces significant enhancements. Apple has reintroduced the popular Slide Over multitasking feature, improving productivity by allowing users to run apps side by side. There’s also a new option to adjust input gain for external microphones, enhancing audio control for creators and professionals.
Beyond iOS and iPadOS, Apple has rolled out Beta 2 updates for several other platforms. macOS 26.1 Tahoe, watchOS 26.1, tvOS 26.1, and visionOS 26.1 all receive similar stability updates and minor feature improvements, strengthening Apple’s ecosystem-wide performance and security.
With the iOS 26.1 Beta 2 release, Apple continues its focus on user experience, privacy, and seamless integration across devices. The updates are currently available to registered developers, with a public beta expected soon. Users can anticipate the final stable versions rolling out later this year, delivering a more secure, intuitive, and feature-rich Apple experience across all devices.
