Apple Rolls Out iOS 26 Beta 5 with UI Tweaks, Restored Features

IOS 17

Apple has released iOS 26 beta 5 as it continues refining its latest operating system, which was first unveiled in June alongside updates for iPadOS, watchOS, macOS, tvOS, and visionOS.

The update brings subtle but notable improvements across the system, building on the visual overhaul introduced earlier this year with the new “Liquid Glass” design.

While earlier betas saw Apple adjusting the intensity of the Liquid Glass effect — dialing it down in beta 2 and re-enhancing it slightly in beta 4 — the fifth beta does not make any further changes to this design element. Instead, beta 5 focuses on user experience, restoring functionality and adding new animations.

One of the standout enhancements in iOS 26 beta 5 is the return of the Select button in the Mail app, making it easier for users to select multiple emails — a feature previously removed. Additionally, Camera now includes a “Classic Mode Switching” option, allowing users to reverse the direction of mode changes, catering to long-time iPhone users who prefer the traditional navigation.

A newly redesigned battery warning alert now appears when the device reaches 20%, offering a more modern notification layout and a direct prompt to activate Low Power Mode.

UI improvements also include new splash screens, icon animations, and a refreshed AirDrop icon. Notably, when rearranging icons on the home screen, the minus (-) remove buttons now appear transparent, giving the interface a cleaner look.

Alongside iOS 26 beta 5, Apple has also rolled out beta 5 versions of iPadOS 26, watchOS 26, macOS Tahoe 26, tvOS 26, and visionOS 26. These updates are currently available for developers and public beta testers enrolled in Apple’s beta program.

As Apple moves closer to the official release of iOS 26, more refinements and feature restorations are expected, ensuring a polished experience when the final version goes live later this year.
