Apple is expanding the capabilities of its AirPods lineup with powerful new features aimed at content creators and communicators.
The company today previewed studio-quality audio recording and a new camera remote function coming to AirPods 4, AirPods 4 with Active Noise Cancellation (ANC), and AirPods Pro 2.
The updates allow users to capture high-fidelity vocals using their AirPods, enabling podcasters, interviewers, and performers to record professional-quality audio on the go.
Whether in a studio or noisy environment, the combination of the H2 chip, beamforming microphones, and computational audio delivers natural voice texture and clarity.
These enhancements also improve voice calls across iPhone, iPad, and Mac, including support for FaceTime, Voice Memos, dictation, and popular video conferencing apps like Webex.
Voice Isolation — already a key feature of AirPods — now further enhances call quality by filtering out background noise, making conversations clearer than ever.
Another major addition is the new camera remote feature, which lets users start and stop video recording or take photos simply by pressing and holding the AirPods stem.
This feature works with Apple’s Camera app and compatible third-party camera apps on iPhone and iPad. It’s ideal for solo content creators, allowing seamless synchronization with music while recording video performances hands-free.
These features not only elevate the content creation experience but also improve everyday communication, making AirPods an even more versatile companion for users.
The new capabilities are available for developer testing today via the Apple Developer Program, with a public beta launching next month. All features will roll out this fall as a free firmware update with iOS 26, iPadOS 26, and macOS Tahoe 26.
Availability may vary by region or language, and features are subject to change prior to official release.
