Are Taylor Swift and Hailee Steinfeld still friends? Inside their rumored fallout

Fans are once again questioning the friendship between Taylor Swift and Hailee Steinfeld, years after the two famously appeared together in the pop icon’s 2015 hit music video “Bad Blood.”

The Eras Tour performer, 35, and Steinfeld, 28, were once known for their close bond and mutual admiration. However, they have rarely been seen together in recent years, prompting speculation that the Dickinson star is no longer part of Swift’s tight-knit inner circle.

The conversation reignited after social media users compared Hailee Steinfeld’s recent behavior to Taylor Swift’s ongoing alleged drama with Charli XCX. Both Steinfeld and Charli have shared similar early career experiences with Swift — performing alongside her and gaining exposure during her peak 1989 era.

A clip shared on X (formerly Twitter) showed Steinfeld cheering for her husband, Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, while appearing to shade Travis Kelce’s team, the Kansas City Chiefs — which happens to be Swift’s boyfriend’s team. Some fans accused Steinfeld of being “ungrateful” toward Swift, while others defended her, saying her support for Allen was simply about loyalty.

“She’s just supporting her husband’s team — it has nothing to do with Taylor,” one fan wrote.

Still, several users revisited their past tension, recalling the 2016 feud between Taylor Swift, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian, with one comment reading: “Hailee betrayed Taylor the moment Kimye happened.”

Others argued that Swift helped boost Steinfeld’s public profile. “Taylor gave her exposure to the masses by including her in one of the biggest music videos of the 2010s,” a fan posted.

However, many defended Steinfeld’s independent success, pointing out that she was nominated for an Oscar at age 14 for her role in True Grit, long before her friendship with Swift.

While the two stars appear distant today, Steinfeld previously mentioned wanting to attend the Eras Tour in 2023, and Swift notably liked the singer’s engagement post in 2024 — a sign that there may be no hard feelings after all.
