Pop sensation Ariana Grande and Tony-winning actress Cynthia Erivo are set to dazzle audiences this fall with an exclusive live performance on NBC, offering a musical experience like never before.
The two stars will headline a special event showcasing songs from the highly anticipated film Wicked: For Good, a cinematic adaptation of the beloved Broadway musical Wicked.
The event will take place at the iconic Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles and will feature Grande and Erivo performing select songs live, alongside fellow cast members and a few surprise guests. The performance will mark the first time Wicked’s iconic music will be presented in this format on network television, bringing a new level of excitement to fans eagerly awaiting the film’s release.
Director Jon M. Chu, who is helming the film adaptation, revealed the news during NBCUniversal’s annual upfront presentation in New York on Monday. “This fall, our stars—the remarkable Cynthia Erivo and the brilliant Ariana Grande—will deliver a one-time-only event that celebrates the music and magic of Wicked, live from the Peacock Theatre,” he announced. Chu emphasized the historical significance of the moment, noting that such a televised musical event has never been attempted in the 22-year history of Wicked.
In addition to performing beloved tracks from the original musical, Erivo and Grande will also unveil new songs from the upcoming film, giving fans a sneak peek of what’s to come. Their chemistry and vocal power are expected to bring fresh energy to the well-known roles of Elphaba and Glinda, respectively.
Wicked: For Good, the sequel to the fantasy musical, is scheduled to hit theaters on November 21, 2025. With Grande and Erivo leading the charge, the musical promises to be a visual and emotional spectacle, building excitement both for the special and the film.
Fans of musical theatre, and especially of Grande and Erivo, have much to look forward to as Broadway’s magic transitions to the small screen in grand style.
