Pop icon and actress Ariana Grande faced an unexpected setback just days before the global release of her upcoming film Wicked: For Good. The star revealed she was forced to miss the highly anticipated Sao Paulo premiere due to a sudden flight emergency.
The 7 Rings hitmaker took to her Instagram Stories to share the heartbreaking update with fans. “Brazil, I can’t believe this is happening and I am beyond devastated to be sending this message,” Grande wrote.
She explained that her team had to deplane hours before takeoff because of urgent maintenance on the aircraft. “The plane needed safety repairs and won’t take off until 11 a.m. tomorrow, meaning I won’t make it in time for the Wicked: For Good Sao Paulo premiere,” she added.
Grande revealed that both her team and Universal Studios made every possible attempt to resolve the issue, including efforts to secure private flights. However, strict travel permit regulations prevented immediate arrangements.
“I am so heartbroken that I’m unable to be there with you all,” she said, apologizing sincerely to her Brazilian fans.
The next Wicked: For Good screenings are set for Paris (Nov 7), London (Nov 10), Singapore (Nov 13), and New York (Nov 17). The much-awaited fantasy musical, starring Ariana Grande, Cynthia Erivo, Jonathan Bailey, and Ethan Slater, will officially release in theaters on November 21, 2025.
