Hobart, November 2, 2025 – A stunning spell from Arshdeep Singh powered India to a thrilling comeback win over Australia in the second T20I at Bellerive Oval, Hobart, leveling the five-match series 1-1.

Australia, batting first, posted a strong total, driven by Tim David’s explosive 74 off 38 balls and a fighting half-century from Marcus Stoinis, while Matthew Short added quick runs at the end. For India, Arshdeep Singh was the standout performer with the ball, claiming three key wickets and tightening the screws on the hosts. Varun Chakaravarthy bagged two wickets, while Jasprit Bumrah bowled an economical spell without much luck.

In reply, India’s chase began aggressively with Abhishek Sharma finding early boundaries before falling to Nathan Ellis, who remained Australia’s best bowler. Suryakumar Yadav, India’s captain, contributed a rapid 24 off 11 balls, keeping the momentum alive. Axar Patel and Tilak Varma maintained control of the chase before Washington Sundar stole the spotlight with an unbeaten 49 off 23 balls, guiding India to victory with nine balls to spare.

Post-match, Suryakumar Yadav praised his team’s execution and partnerships, calling the performance “clinical and confident.” Meanwhile, Mitchell Marsh admitted that Australia fell “20 runs short” and credited India’s superior batting effort.

Arshdeep Singh, declared Player of the Match, credited Bumrah’s support and emphasized his focus on execution and enjoying his bowling rhythm.

India’s win not only levels the series but also marks Australia’s first-ever T20I defeat in Hobart, and India’s highest successful chase against them in T20 history.

The action now moves to Heritage Bank Stadium, Queensland, for the fourth T20I on November 6.
