Dubai, September 15, 2025 – Sri Lanka clinched a crucial win over Hong Kong, China by four wickets in the eighth match of the Asia Cup 2025, played at the Dubai International Stadium on Monday.

The result has further strengthened Sri Lanka’s position in Group B of the tournament.

Batting first, Hong Kong, China posted a competitive total of 149 runs for the loss of four wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Skipper Nizakat Khan anchored the innings with a fine 52 runs, while Anshy Rath added valuable support with a solid knock of 48. Despite their contributions, Sri Lanka’s disciplined bowling kept the scoring rate in check. Dushmantha Chameera was the standout bowler for Sri Lanka, taking two crucial wickets to restrict the opposition’s momentum.

In reply, Sri Lanka faced early setbacks, losing quick wickets, but opener Pathum Nissanka rose to the occasion with a brilliant 68-run innings that guided his side toward the target. Although Hong Kong’s Yasim Murtaza struck twice to create some pressure, the Islanders maintained composure. Eventually, Sri Lanka reached the 150-run target in 18.5 overs with six wickets down, sealing their second consecutive victory.

With this win, Sri Lanka now top Group B with four points from two matches, showcasing their determination to defend their Asia Cup legacy. Meanwhile, Hong Kong, China remain winless after three games, struggling to gain momentum in the tournament.
