Aurangzeb announces five honorariums for FY26 Budget staff

Pakistan Budget 2025-26

Islamabad, June 27, 2025 — Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, on Friday announced a special financial reward for government officials who contributed to the preparation and presentation of the fiscal year 2025–26 budget.

The announcement was made during the concluding session of the National Assembly, where Aurangzeb declared that five honorariums — equivalent to five basic salaries — will be awarded to eligible staff members in recognition of their dedicated services.

Aurangzeb emphasized that the honorariums are a token of appreciation for the outstanding performance and commitment demonstrated by officers and staff across various branches of the government. This includes personnel from the National Assembly Secretariat, the Senate, the Ministry of Finance, and other departments directly involved in the budget-making process.

“I deeply appreciate the tireless efforts of our legislative and financial teams,” said Aurangzeb. “Their dedication, often working late into the night, ensured the accuracy, transparency, and timely finalization of the federal budget documents. These five honorariums are a well-earned acknowledgment of their professionalism.”

He particularly commended the secretaries and additional secretaries of both the National Assembly and Senate, noting their leadership and efficient handling of sensitive budgetary details. Aurangzeb also highlighted the role of the Law and Justice Division, whose expert legal oversight helped streamline the drafting process.

Furthermore, the minister praised the Pakistan Institute for Parliamentary Services (PIPS) for its behind-the-scenes support. Teams from PIPS, including those operating in the opposition lobby and managing the National Assembly Library, were recognized for their consistent assistance throughout the session.

This year’s budget process was one of the most rigorous in recent times, and Aurangzeb stressed that without the combined efforts of the core staff, the seamless execution would not have been possible. The announcement of five honorariums has been welcomed across government circles as a morale-boosting gesture.

Aurangzeb concluded by reaffirming the government’s commitment to encouraging excellence in public service through meaningful recognition and rewards like these five honorariums.
