Islamabad, March 30, 2026 – Federal Minister for Finance and Revenue, Muhammad Aurangzeb, held a high-level meeting with a delegation from VEON led by Group CEO Kaan Terzioğlu to discuss Pakistan’s telecom growth and digital transformation roadmap.
The delegation also included Aamir Ibrahim and senior officials from Jazz. The Finance Minister welcomed the delegation and appreciated their continued engagement in Pakistan’s evolving digital economy.
During the meeting, Kaan Terzioğlu congratulated the government on the successful completion of the recent multiband spectrum auction, describing it as a key milestone for the telecom sector. He also acknowledged Pakistan’s improving macroeconomic stability, which is increasingly attracting global investors.
Aurangzeb highlighted that the spectrum auction was conducted through a transparent and consultative process. He noted that it balanced pricing considerations with long-term sustainability of the telecom ecosystem, calling it a “win-win-win” outcome for stakeholders, especially for citizens who will benefit from improved connectivity and enhanced digital services.
The Minister emphasized that the auction has gained international recognition, positioning Pakistan more prominently in global telecom discussions. He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency, consistent policies, and investor facilitation under the leadership of Shehbaz Sharif.
Discussions also covered Pakistan’s broader economic outlook and reform agenda. Aurangzeb briefed the delegation on ongoing initiatives to strengthen macroeconomic stability, attract foreign direct investment, and promote emerging technologies such as artificial intelligence and digital finance.
Kaan Terzioğlu reiterated VEON’s commitment to expanding its footprint in Pakistan, highlighting the company’s ambition to evolve beyond traditional telecom services and play a significant role in digital innovation.
Meanwhile, Aamir Ibrahim underscored Jazz’s contributions to financial inclusion through its digital platform JazzCash, particularly in enabling targeted subsidies and QR-based payments in collaboration with government institutions.
The Finance Minister appreciated the role of VEON and Jazz in advancing Pakistan’s digital ecosystem and promoting a cashless economy. Both sides agreed to enhance collaboration in telecom and digital sectors to support sustainable economic growth and nationwide digital transformation.
