Australia delivered a dominant performance in the second Test, securing a resounding 10-wicket victory over India to level the series 1-1. The win also saw them reclaim the top spot in the World Test Championship standings.

Captain Pat Cummins led the charge, claiming his 13th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. His impressive spell in the second innings dismissed India for 175, leaving the Australian batters a mere 19-run target to chase. They achieved this with ease, finishing the match without losing a wicket.

Reflecting on the victory, Cummins credited the team’s resurgence to their determination after going 0-1 down in Perth. “Great week, great to level the series. We were back to our best. Being one down added extra motivation to perform,” he remarked. The skipper, who also achieved his 50th wicket in Border-Gavaskar Trophy Tests, delivered his eighth five-wicket haul as captain, trailing only legends Imran Khan (12) and Richie Benaud (9) in this category.

Mitchell Starc was another standout performer, delivering a sensational spell in the first innings with figures of 6-48, followed by two wickets in the second. Starc now holds an impressive 74 wickets in 13 pink-ball Tests, solidifying his reputation as the most prolific bowler in day-night games. “Starc is amazing; he’s been doing it for over a decade. We’re privileged to have him in the team,” said Cummins.

Travis Head stole the show with the bat, smashing a 141-ball 140 in front of an ecstatic Adelaide crowd. His counter-attacking innings turned the tide in Australia’s favor, showcasing his ability to dominate under pressure. “Every time he walks out, he changes the game. His ability to seize key moments is incredible,” lauded Cummins.

Scott Boland also contributed significantly with five wickets across the match, ensuring consistent breakthroughs. With Josh Hazlewood’s potential return looming, Cummins praised Boland’s reliability, stating, “Scotty always delivers. He’s unbelievable.”

With the series tied 1-1, the decider in Brisbane, starting December 14, promises a thrilling contest as both teams aim for supremacy.
