AUS Vs SL: Sri Lanka Revise Australia Tour Schedule

Sri Lanka cricket

Australia’s highly anticipated tour of Sri Lanka is set to feature an expanded schedule, as the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC), in collaboration with Cricket Australia, has confirmed the addition of an extra One-Day International (ODI). The tour, which begins on 29 January, now includes two ODIs alongside the originally scheduled two Test matches.

The tour was initially designed to feature a single ODI along with the two Test matches, which are part of the ongoing ICC World Test Championship cycle. However, the revised schedule adds a second ODI, offering fans more exciting cricket action and providing Australia with a critical opportunity to fine-tune their preparations for the 2025 ICC Champions Trophy. The Champions Trophy is set to commence on 19 February, making this additional ODI a timely boost for Australia’s campaign.

Sri Lanka, on the other hand, will not feature in the Champions Trophy for the first time in the tournament’s history, having failed to meet the qualification criteria. Despite this setback, the revised schedule provides Sri Lanka an excellent platform to test their mettle against one of the strongest cricketing sides in the world.

The tour kicks off with the first Test match on 29 January at the iconic Galle International Stadium. The second Test will also be held at Galle, starting on 6 February. Following the conclusion of the Test series, the teams will head to Colombo for the ODI fixtures. The first ODI is scheduled for 12 February, followed by the newly added ODI on 14 February, both to be held at the R. Premadasa Stadium.

Revised Schedule:

• First Test: 29 January – 2 February, Galle

• Second Test: 6 – 10 February, Galle

• First ODI: 12 February, Colombo

• Second ODI: 14 February, Colombo

This tour promises a blend of high-intensity Test cricket and thrilling ODI action, keeping fans engaged and giving both teams valuable opportunities to showcase their skills in different formats. For Australia, the extra ODI could prove pivotal in their Champions Trophy preparations, while Sri Lanka will aim to leverage home conditions and deliver strong performances.
