Australia’s Cricket Stars Soar in Latest ICC Test Rankings

Australia’s cricket stars are shining bright after a commanding victory over the West Indies in Adelaide, leading to significant advancements in the latest MRF Tyres ICC Men’s Test Rankings.

Travis Head, the dynamic left-hander, surged up seven places to claim an equal fifth position in the Test Batting Rankings.

His stellar performance, including a brilliant 119 against the West Indies in the ICC World Test Championship clash, earned him the Player of the Match title and propelled him closer to the top spot. The top four spots are currently held by Kane Williamson, Joe Root, Steve Smith, and Marnus Labuschagne.

Head, who was also the Player of the Match in Australia’s triumph over India in the World Test Championship final, joins fellow Australians Josh Hazlewood (up to fourth) and Nathan Lyon (up to tenth) in making strides on the Test Bowlers Rankings.

This dominance sees Australia maintaining a strong presence in the Test rankings, with four players in the top 10 for batters and their captain, Pat Cummins, holding the second spot in the bowlers’ rankings.

In T20I action, New Zealand’s impressive series win against Pakistan has propelled their players up the rankings. Finn Allen, the attacking opener, climbed nine places to seventh in the T20I Batting Rankings after scoring a series-high 275 runs.

Teammates Tim Siefert and Daryl Mitchell also made notable gains in the batting rankings, while bowlers Mitchell Santner, Tim Southee, Matt Henry, and Lockie Ferguson rose in the T20I Bowling Rankings.

Meanwhile, India’s Rinku Singh and skipper Rohit Sharma experienced a surge in T20I rankings following their performances in the series against Afghanistan.

Singh rose 39 places to equal 31st after an unbeaten half-century in the final match, while Sharma jumped 19 spots to 49th after a century and Super Over heroics in the same clash.

These rankings reflect the exceptional performances of players, both individually and as part of their teams, showcasing the dynamic and competitive nature of international cricket.
