Austrian Olympian to Conquer K2, Train Pakistani Female Judo Players

Sabrina Filzmoser, a renowned Austrian judoka and four-time Olympic participant, has embarked on a remarkable journey in Pakistan.

Her objective is twofold: to conquer K2, the world’s second highest peak standing at 8,611 meters, and to provide training to female judo players in the country. The Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF) shared this exciting news in an official statement.

To kick off her adventure, Filzmoser plans to commence a bicycle ride on June 4th from Islamabad to the K2 Base Camp via Skardu. Once she arrives at K2, she will undertake the challenging ascent. This feat follows her successful endeavor last year when she reached the summit of Mount Everest, the tallest peak on Earth.

During her journey from Islamabad to K2, Filzmoser will make stops at various judo clubs, aiming to promote the sport and engage with local athletes. Upon her return from the expedition, she has graciously agreed to provide training sessions for female judokas in Islamabad.

This visit marks the first time that such a prominent figure in the field of judo has visited Pakistan and offered training to female athletes, as highlighted by the PJF statement.

Furthermore, as an IJF Climate Ambassador, Sabrina Filzmoser is committed to fulfilling her role and raising awareness about the pressing issue of climate change. Through her activities, she aims to educate individuals about this global concern and its impact on our planet.
