However, it has since faced multiple delays, and now, Sony has confirmed that the film will not be releasing in 2025. This marks another disappointment for fans who have been eagerly anticipating the next chapter in the Spider-Verse saga.

The delay comes as a surprise to many, especially after Across the Spider-Verse’s immense success. The creative process for these films is notoriously meticulous, involving countless hours of animation, editing, and touchups. Given the extensive work involved, it was clear that Beyond the Spider-Verse was never going to be ready for a 2024 release. In fact, actor Jharrel Jerome, who voices a character in the film, revealed that he had yet to even begin recording his voice lines, further confirming the timeline challenges the production is facing.

The team behind the Spider-Verse films has been busy with other projects as well. Writers Christopher Miller and Phil Lord recently completed their work on Project Hail Mary, an adaptation of Andy Weir’s novel, starring Ryan Gosling. Hailee Steinfeld, who voices Spider-Gwen in the series, will star in Sinners, a film directed by Ryan Coogler. Meanwhile, Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales, is featured in The Gutter, a comedy available on Prime Video.

As for streaming, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is currently available to stream exclusively on Netflix. The first film, Into the Spider-Verse, can be purchased on VOD platforms like Prime Video and Apple TV+, though it still lacks a permanent streaming home. Fans will need to stay tuned for updates on Beyond the Spider-Verse, which is not expected to release until at least 2026.
