Supreme Court Rules Forced DNA Testing Violates Fundamental Rights in Pakistan
Islamabad, December 12, 2025 — In a landmark ruling, the Supreme Court of Pakistan has declared that compelling any individual to undergo a DNA test without consent is a direct violation of fundamental rights guaranteed under the Constitution. The apex court held that such intrusive orders infringe upon personal dignity and cannot be made part of judicial proceedings unless explicitly required by law.

RTO Abbottabad dismantles major illegal cigarette factory, seizes MK-8 machines
Islamabad, December 12, 2025 – In a significant enforcement action against the illicit tobacco trade, the Regional Tax Office (RTO) Abbottabad has dismantled a fully operational illegal cigarette manufacturing facility, seizing high-capacity MK-8 cigarette-making machines, packing units, stamping and bundle-making equipment, along with substantial quantities of raw tobacco, packaging materials, and non-duty-paid cigarettes.

World Bank approves $400 million to boost water and sanitation services in Punjab
Islamabad, December 12, 2025 – The World Bank has approved $400 million in financing for a major new initiative aimed at expanding access to safe drinking water, sanitation, and hygiene services across Punjab. The project, known as the Punjab Inclusive Cities Program (PICP), will also strengthen the financial and institutional capacity of local urban administrations in 16 secondary cities.
