    Pakistan equities gain 636 points on AIIB fund inflow

    KARACHI: Pakistan equities have recorded jump of 636 points on Monday on reports of fund inflow from Asia Infrastructure Bank (AIIB).

    The benchmark KSE-100 index of Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) ended at 41,901 points from last trading of 42,265 on November 08, 2022, showing a gain of 636 points.

    The stock market was remained closed on November 09, 2022 due to public holiday announced by the government on the occasion of Iqbal Day.

    Analysts at Topline Securities said that Pakistan equities had witnessed a bullish momentum during the day. The KSE-100 index initially opened in a green zone, stayed positive throughout the day and eventually settled at 42,901 for the day.

    The aforesaid sentiment is attributed to easing off on the global energy commodity front where international oil and coal prices came down which lured investors’ interest toward cyclical stocks especially listed construction sector.

    In addition to this, finance minister’s announcement of arrival of Asia Infrastructure Investment Bank’s (AIIB) co-financing of US$500 MILLION (under Building Resilience with Active Counter-cyclical Expenditure (BRACE) program of ADB) by the end of the month also supported market sentiment.

    During the day, Tech, Bank & E&P sector stocks contributed positively to the index where TRG, MEBL, OGDC, PPL & BAFL added 278 points, cumulatively. On the flip side, PSEL, RMPL and FATIMA have witnessed some profit taking as they lost 52 points collectively, today.

    Over 293 million shares traded today at the bourses while total value clocked in at Rs 10.2 billion. HASCOL led the volumes chart today with trading of 41.5 million shares in it, during the day.

    Rupee makes recovery as limit imposed on dollar cash movement

    KARACHI: Pakistani Rupee (PKR) made recovery against the US dollar on Monday as the government imposed limit on taking cash dollar out of Pakistan.

    The exchange rate recorded a gain of 23 paisas in rupee value to end at PKR 221.42 from last closing of PKR 221.65 on November 08, 2022 in interbank foreign exchange market.

    The foreign currency market was remained closed on November 09, 2022 due to public holiday that was announced by the government on occasion of Iqbal Day.

    Currency experts said that the latest measures of the government to limit the cash dollar taking out of Pakistan supported the local currency to make gain.

    On November 08, 2022, the SBP issued a circular to restrict the amount of foreign currency in cash up to equivalent to USD 5,000 from USD 10,000.

    The central bank issued a circular stating that it had reviewed the existing foreign currency cash carrying limits for travel purposes, and decided to further rationalize the same.

    As per the revised limits individuals with age 18 years and above (adults) can now take out of Pakistan foreign currency (FCY) equivalent to USD5,000 per visit, while those below the age of 18 years (minors) can carry out foreign currency equivalent to USD2,500 per visit. Further, the annual ceiling to take out FCY for adults and minors shall be USD30,000 and USD15,000, respectively.

    The experts said that the lower level of foreign exchange reserves of the country was remained a challenge for rupee stability in coming days.

    Recently, Pakistan foreign exchange reserves increased by $1.527 billion to $14.69 billion by week ended October 28, 2022 after transfer of funds from Asian Development Bank (ADB).

    The country’s foreign exchange reserves increased to $14.689 billion by week ended October 28, 2022 as compared with $13.162 billion a week ago i.e. October 21, 2022.

    The country’s foreign exchange reserves hit all-time high of $27.228 billion on August 27, 2021. Since then the foreign exchange reserves have declined by $12.539 billion.

    The official foreign exchange reserves of the State Bank also increased by $1.473 billion to $8.913 billion by week ended October 28, 2022 when compared with $7.44 billion a week ago.

    Pakistan Cricket Team secured a comprehensive victory against the New Zealand in the semi-final of T20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday.

    The Babar Azam Eleven chased 153 runs in a comfortable manner. The team completed the innings in 115 balls on losing three wickets.

    The New Zealand scored 152 runs in 120 balls, losing four wickets.

    Muhammad Rizwan was declared the man of the match on scoring 57 runs of 43 balls.

    The journey of Pakistan to the semi-final of T20 World Cup had been unbelievable. Pakistan lost hopes when it got defeated from India and Zimbabwe in the first to matches.

    However Pakistan secured victory against South Africa and Netherlands, which created some chances for Pakistan to qualify for semi-finals. All the expectations for Pakistan had fallen on Netherlands and South Africa match.

    The victory of Netherlands against the South Africa proved to be a clear way for Pakistan to the semi-final.

    Babar Azam, the captain of Pakistan Cricket Team said that the team played really well and he thanked the crowd for the support they have given them. The team had a plan to go hard in the power play and they wanted to make most of the 6 overs.

    The captain gave credit to Haris Rauf for being an aggressive player. He added that they will enjoy the win but are focused on the finals and they are looking forward to it.

    The captain of New Zealand, Kane Williamson said that they were put under pressure but they managed to get back the momentum. He states that they were outplayed but they are disappointed, because they did not make Pakistan work hard for their runs.

    He admitted that their fielding was not that great, Azam and Rizwan put them under pressure, they could have been more disciplined but Pakistan are deserved winners.

    Suzuki launches V-STROM 800DE and GSX-8S

    Suzuki Motor Corporation has launched the V-Strom 800DE and GSX-85. The unveiling ceremony took place at the EICMA 2022, which was held in Milan.

    The global sales for the V-STROM 800DE will start from February 2023, and the GSX-8S from March 2023.

    The V-STROM 800DE and the GSX-8S were developed as brand-new 800cc class models with lightweight and features for a wide range of riders.

    Both models offer optimized balance of ridability required both in daily commuting and in touring. The newly developed 776cm3 parallel twin engine suppresses vibration to contribute to realize smooth operation and a compact.

    Lightweight engine design by adopting the Suzuki Cross Balancer, the first of its type on a production motorcycle to position its two balancers at 90° to the crankshaft.

    The V-STROM 800DE was developed as an adventure model that best performs in all fields from touring to daily commuting.
