This weekend, moviegoers catching The Fantastic Four: First Steps will be treated to an exclusive first look at James Cameron’s highly anticipated sequel, Avatar: Fire and Ash.

The debut trailer for the third installment in the Avatar franchise will play only in theaters, before screenings of Marvel’s new film.

The announcement was made through the official Avatar X (formerly Twitter) account, confirming that fans will need to head to cinemas to witness the teaser footage. Avatar: Fire and Ash is scheduled for theatrical release on December 19, 2025, with Avatar 4 and Avatar 5 already dated for December 21, 2029, and December 19, 2031, respectively.

The trailer, first shown privately to CinemaCon attendees in April, revisits the vibrant world of Pandora. It introduces two brand-new Na’vi groups: the Wind Traders, who fly through the skies in hot-air-balloon-like crafts, and the Fire People, who soar on fiery winged beasts. Tensions rise as these rival factions clash, including a dramatic moment where a Na’vi is struck down by a flaming arrow.

The story picks up after Avatar: The Way of Water, which followed Jake Sully (Sam Worthington), Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña), and their family as they allied with the water-based Metkayina crew against the militaristic Resources Development Administration. In Fire and Ash, the Sully family faces new threats from the Ash People—former Na’vi who have abandoned their spiritual roots and turned hostile.

Cameron’s Avatar saga has already made cinematic history. The first two films, Avatar and The Way of Water, each grossed over $2 billion globally, ranking as the No. 1 and No. 3 highest-grossing films of all time. If Fire and Ash reaches similar box office heights, Avatar will become the first film franchise with three entries to surpass the $2 billion milestone.

Fans eager for a glimpse of Pandora’s next chapter should head to theaters this weekend to catch The Fantastic Four and the world premiere of the Avatar: Fire and Ash trailer.
