Pop icon Taylor Swift has received an open invitation from the Backstreet Boys to join them onstage following the viral success of a mashup blending her song Elizabeth Taylor with the band’s classic hit Everybody (Backstreet’s Back).
The remix, created by Lydia Getachew, gained massive attention after AJ McLean shared it on Instagram, sparking excitement among fans of both Swift and the Backstreet Boys. The mashup has now surpassed one million views on TikTok, highlighting its viral appeal.
In a recent TMZ interview, McLean revealed that after their “Into the Millennium” residency made headlines in July, the Backstreet Boys are adding seven more shows at Sphere Las Vegas for December 2025 and January 2026.
When asked which artists he would love to perform with, McLean mentioned Coldplay, Lenny Kravitz, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, before adding, “I don’t know if she’d ever do it, but I think Taylor Swift would absolutely destroy it.” He praised Swift’s character, saying, “She’s a fan, and we’re massive fans of hers. She’s been so kind to my daughters anytime we’ve met at her shows. She’s just the best.”
McLean emphasized that Swift joining them onstage would be monumental, joking, “It would break the planet if she came up.” He extended a direct invitation: “Taylor, if you want, come see the show first, so you know what’s going on. Then you can decide if you want to join us. We’re not going to say no.”
In October, McLean teased collaboration rumours by posting a video of himself dancing to the viral remix with the caption, “Come on now you know one of us had to! @taylorswift!” Swift responded enthusiastically with, “OH HI AJ OH MY GOD,” a comment that has since received over 185,000 likes.
Mashup creator Lydia Getachew also celebrated the moment, saying, “OMG you using my mix JUST MADE MY WEEKEND, thank you for the love!”
Fans worldwide are now eagerly anticipating whether this unexpected pop-meets-boy-band collaboration could happen on one of the upcoming Las Vegas shows.
