After three decades together, the iconic Backstreet Boys are preparing to hit the stage once again for their highly anticipated Las Vegas Sphere residency, reflecting on how their approach to performing has evolved over the years.

Comprising AJ McLean, Kevin Richardson, Howie Dorough, Nick Carter, and Brian Littrell, the group has seen dramatic changes in both their personal and professional lives since forming in 1993. Despite their long-standing career, the singers remain deeply committed to performing while keeping their health and well-being a top priority.

Health Takes Center Stage

In a recent interview with People Magazine, McLean emphasized how the group has shifted focus to physical wellness before shows. “I try to just have a complete quiet stretch, a quick little meditation, and I’ve got some weights that I’ll use for weightlifting and stretching,” he said. “For a long stretch there, maybe one of us might be stretching in the dressing room, but for the most part, we weren’t.”

Nick Carter added humorously, “We pray that we don’t fall, we pray we don’t break an ankle, we get the lyrics, pray we don’t pop [an] Achilles heel,” highlighting the importance of safety and preparation before performing.

Maintaining Long-Standing Traditions

Despite the changes in pre-show routines, some traditions remain the same. McLean noted the band’s signature “circle up” moment before every performance. “Whether it’s just us five or it’s us and our crew, our management, families, our close-knit team… no matter what, us five circle up. That’s something we do unified,” he said, underscoring the group’s enduring bond.

Three Decades of Music and Passion

The Backstreet Boys have largely stayed together since 1993, with only a brief two-year hiatus. Their passion for music and performing as a group continues to thrive, proving that even after 30 years, the boy band chemistry that made them a global phenomenon remains strong.

As fans eagerly await their Las Vegas residency, the Backstreet Boys are showing that longevity in the music industry comes not just from talent, but also from dedication, preparation, and the unbreakable bond between bandmates.
