The nomination list for the 2026 British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards was officially announced on Tuesday, January 27, setting the stage for a high-profile awards season showdown between One Battle After Another and Sinners.
Leonardo DiCaprio’s drama-action thriller One Battle After Another emerged as the most-nominated film, securing 14 nominations across major categories. The film received nods for best film, best director, leading actor, and leading actress, cementing its position as a strong contender at this year’s BAFTAs.
Close behind is Ryan Coogler’s horror-action epic Sinners, which earned 13 nominations. The film received recognition in top categories including best film, best director, and original screenplay for Coogler, along with acting nominations for Michael B. Jordan (leading actor) and Wunmi Mosaku (supporting actress). Additional nominations include casting, cinematography, editing, original score, costume design, makeup and hair, production design, and sound.
Notably, Sinners previously led the Oscars race with 16 Academy Award nominations, while One Battle After Another earned 13 Oscar nods, highlighting strong industry support for both films.
The BAFTA best film category features Hamnet, Marty Supreme, One Battle After Another, Sentimental Value, and Sinners.
The 2026 BAFTA Awards ceremony will take place on February 22 at London’s Royal Festival Hall, with actor Alan Cumming set to host the prestigious event.
