Quetta, October 2, 2025 – In a landmark decision to improve welfare governance, Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced the introduction of a fully digital mechanism for the province’s Zakat and Auqaf Department.
The initiative is designed to ensure that financial aid reaches the most deserving beneficiaries with transparency, efficiency, and accountability.
Speaking at a high-level meeting, CM Bugti emphasized that modern technology will be the foundation of this reform. The new system will allow Zakat payments to be transferred directly into digital accounts, eliminating middlemen and curbing misuse of funds. By integrating data from NADRA and utilizing the support of the Benazir Income Support Program (BISP), the government aims to create an accurate database to identify eligible families and individuals.
“This digital transformation is not just about technology, it is about fairness and justice,” Bugti stated. “Through this initiative, we are ensuring that Zakat reaches the lower income group, the widows, and the vulnerable segments of society without delay or manipulation.”
The meeting also finalized steps to strengthen coordination between provincial departments, ensuring seamless execution of the plan. Provincial leaders highlighted that the reform reflects the government’s commitment to social justice and efficient distribution of religious and welfare funds.
By digitizing the Zakat system, Balochistan aims to restore public confidence, improve governance, and build a transparent safety net for those most in need.
