Bangladesh A Show Grit After Pakistan Shaheens’ Big Total

The second day of the first four-day match at the DXC Arena saw a resilient display from Bangladesh A’s batsmen as they faced the formidable total set by Pakistan Shaheens. Chasing an imposing target of 468 runs, Bangladesh A ended the day at 203-4, trailing by 264 runs.

The innings got off to a rocky start for Bangladesh A, with openers Parvez Hossain Emon and Amite Hasan departing for 3 and 8 runs, respectively. Mohammad Ali and Khurram Shahzad struck early, leaving Bangladesh A at a precarious 23-2.

However, the tide turned with a remarkable third-wicket partnership between Shadman Islam and Aich Mollah. Their 153-run stand was pivotal in stabilizing the innings.

Shadman Islam played a composed innings, scoring 88 runs before being caught by Umar Amin off Shahnawaz Dahani’s delivery. Aich Mollah contributed significantly as well, amassing 70 runs before a run-out by Sahibzada Farhan ended his stay at the crease. This partnership spanned nearly 38 overs, showcasing both players’ grit and determination.

Bangladesh A faced a setback when Ariful Islam retired hurt, adding to the pressure. As the day concluded, Shahadat Hossain, unbeaten on 15, and Hasan Murad were at the crease, ready to continue the fight on day three. The resilience shown by Bangladesh A’s middle order provides a glimmer of hope for their fans.

On the bowling front, Pakistan Shaheens’ attack was led by Khurram Shahzad, Mohammad Ali, and Shahnawaz Dahani, who each took a wicket. Their disciplined performance kept Bangladesh A in check despite the valiant efforts of Shadman and Mollah.

Earlier in the match, Pakistan Shaheens declared their innings at a mammoth 467-3, having added 92 runs to their overnight score. Mohammad Huraira was the standout performer, converting his overnight 161 into a career-best 218.

His partnership with Kamran Ghulam, who remained unbeaten on 100, was crucial in propelling the Shaheens to their imposing total.

Hasan Murad managed to dismiss Huraira, ending his phenomenal innings, while Ripon Mondal claimed two wickets, finishing with figures of 2-84.
