Sharjah, May 17, 2025 – Bangladesh kicked off their two-match T20I series with a commanding 27-run win over the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the iconic Sharjah Cricket Stadium.
The win gives Bangladesh a 1-0 lead in the series and sets the stage for a potential clean sweep.
Batting first, Bangladesh posted a formidable total of 191 for 7 in their allotted 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a blistering century from Pervez Hossain Emon, who smashed 100 runs off just 54 balls. His explosive knock included a flurry of boundaries and sixes, putting the UAE bowlers under immense pressure. Tawhid Hridoy added 20 runs to the total, while skipper Litton Das managed only 11 runs before falling early.
UAE’s bowling unit, however, had its moments of brilliance. Left-arm pacer Muhammad Jawadullah was the standout performer, claiming four wickets for just 21 runs in his four-over spell. He received support from Dhruv Parashar, Matiullah Khan, and Muhammad Zhuaib, who picked up a wicket apiece.
In reply, UAE put up a spirited fight but ultimately fell short, managing 164 runs before being bowled out in the final over. Captain Muhammad Waseem led from the front with a solid 54 off 39 balls. Asif Khan contributed 42 runs, while Rahul Chopra added 35, attempting to steady the chase for UAE.
Bangladesh’s bowlers responded effectively under pressure. Hasan Mahmud was the pick of the lot, grabbing three wickets. Tanzim Hasan Sakib, Mehedi Hasan, and Mustafizur Rahman each chipped in with two wickets to wrap up the UAE innings.
