Experienced fast bowler Taskin Ahmed returns to Bangladesh’s 15-member squad for the opening Test as the hosts pursue valuable World Test Championship points.
Bangladesh have named a 15-member squad for the opening Test of their ICC World Test Championship series against the West Indies, with experienced fast bowler Taskin Ahmed returning to the side.
The right-arm pacer has been included after missing Bangladesh’s one-off Test against Afghanistan earlier this month. His return strengthens the hosts’ bowling options ahead of the two-match series, which begins in Mirpur on October 28.
Najmul Hossain Shanto will captain Bangladesh throughout the series, while experienced batter Litton Das has retained his place despite recently suffering a hip injury.
Bangladesh currently occupy fourth place in the World Test Championship standings and will be targeting strong results against the West Indies to improve their position in the race for a place in the 2027 final.
The hosts will aim to make the most of home conditions as they seek to close the gap on the leading teams and strengthen their hopes of securing a top-two finish.
The opening Test will be played in Mirpur from October 28 to November 1, followed by the second match in Sylhet from November 5 to 9.
Bangladesh squad: Najmul Hossain Shanto (captain), Taskin Ahmed, Jaker Ali Anik, Litton Das, Mominul Haque, Nayeem Hasan, Tanzid Hasan, Ebadot Hossain Chowdhury, Tawhid Hridoy, Shadman Islam, Shoriful Islam, Taijul Islam, Hasan Mahmud, Mehidy Hasan Miraz and Mushfiqur Rahim.
