Bangladesh is set to tour Sri Lanka for an all-format cricket series in June and July 2025, marking their first bilateral visit to the island nation in four years.
The tour includes two Test matches, three One Day Internationals (ODIs), and three T20 Internationals (T20Is), promising a highly competitive and action-packed cricket calendar for both South Asian sides.
The tour will kick off with a two-match Test series in Galle and Colombo, scheduled for June 17–21 and June 25–29, respectively. These games will also serve as the opening fixtures for both Bangladesh and Sri Lanka in the new cycle of the ICC World Test Championship.
Following the red-ball contests, attention will shift to white-ball cricket, starting with the ODIs on July 2 and 5 in Colombo, and concluding with the final ODI in Pallekele on July 8. The T20I series will commence on July 10 in Pallekele, followed by matches in Dambulla (July 13) and Colombo (July 16).
This will be Bangladesh’s first major overseas challenge under newly appointed T20I captain Litton Das. The tour is seen as a critical opportunity for the team to prepare for upcoming global events, while also giving younger players a chance to prove themselves in challenging Sri Lankan conditions.
The last time Bangladesh toured Sri Lanka, they lost the Test series 1-0, with the first Test ending in a draw and the second resulting in a 209-run defeat. Since then, Bangladesh has shown promise, recently drawing a Test series 1-1 against Zimbabwe at home, thanks in large part to spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraz’s impressive three five-wicket hauls.
Before heading to Sri Lanka, the Tigers will engage in back-to-back T20I series—first in the UAE and then a five-match T20I tour of Pakistan.
Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be looking to bounce back from their recent Test series loss to Australia, although they claimed a 2-0 ODI victory over the reigning World Cup champions in the same tour.
With both teams eager to make a strong start to the Test Championship and refine their limited-overs strategies, this tour is expected to offer intense, high-quality cricket.
