Bangladesh win ODI series 2-1 against Pakistan after thrilling third match

Dhaka, March 15, 2026 – Bangladesh defeated Pakistan by 11 runs in the third One-Day International (ODI) on Sunday to clinch the three-match ODI series 2-1 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.

The final match turned into a dramatic contest as Bangladesh held their nerve in the closing stages to secure a memorable victory in front of home supporters. The win also gives Bangladesh important points in their campaign for direct qualification to the 2027 ICC ODI World Cup.

Tanzid Hasan Leads Bangladesh Batting

Bangladesh posted a competitive total thanks to a brilliant maiden ODI century by Tanzid Hasan, who scored 107 runs off 107 balls. He also shared a 105-run opening partnership with Saif Hassan, providing a solid start for the hosts.

Later in the innings, Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy stabilized the middle order with a crucial 68-run partnership, both contributing scores in the 40s. Hridoy accelerated toward the end of the innings to push Bangladesh close to the 300-run mark, setting a challenging target for Pakistan.

For Pakistan, Haris Rauf was the most successful bowler with three wickets, while Shaheen Afridi and Abrar Ahmed picked up one wicket each.

Bangladesh Bowlers Seal the Win

Bangladesh bowlers made an early impact as Taskin Ahmed struck twice in the opening overs, while Nahid Rana also claimed a key wicket to leave Pakistan struggling.

Pakistan’s chase suffered a major setback as they slumped to 17/3 early in the innings. However, Salman Agha led a strong fightback with a superb century and built important partnerships with Faheem Ashraf and Shaheen Afridi to keep Pakistan in the game.

The turning point came when Taskin Ahmed dismissed both Faheem Ashraf and Salman Agha, finishing with an impressive four-wicket haul. Mustafizur Rahman also played a key role despite taking a blow to his knee, returning to take a crucial wicket late in the innings.

Pakistan needed 14 runs in the final over, but spinner Rishad Hossain kept his composure to seal the win for Bangladesh.

Awards and Captain Reactions

Tanzid Hasan was named Player of the Match for his century, while Nahid Rana and Tanzid Hasan shared the Player of the Series award. Rana finished the series with eight wickets, including a five-wicket haul in the first match, while Tanzid scored 175 runs across the three games.

Bangladesh captain Mehidy Hasan Miraz praised his team’s collective effort, highlighting the batting contributions of Tanzid, Litton Das and Towhid Hridoy, along with Taskin Ahmed’s match-winning bowling performance.

Pakistan captain Shaheen Afridi acknowledged his team’s fighting spirit but said they need to improve in all departments moving forward.

With this victory, Bangladesh celebrated another home ODI series win over Pakistan, finishing the series on a high note.
