Bangladesh’s star all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz has been named the ICC Men’s Player of the Month for April 2025, following his match-winning performances in the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe. This marks a major milestone in Miraz’s international career, as it is his first time winning the prestigious monthly award.

In a closely contested race, Miraz outshone fellow nominees Blessing Muzarabani of Zimbabwe and New Zealand’s Ben Sears to clinch the honour. His exceptional all-round display across the series stood out, as he dominated with both bat and ball.

The 27-year-old all-rounder now joins the elite company of Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan, becoming only the third Bangladeshi player to win the ICC Player of the Month award.

Reacting to the news, Miraz expressed his gratitude:

“It’s an incredible honour to win the ICC Men’s Player of the Month. The ICC Awards are the highest form of recognition for any cricketer, and this global vote means the world to me. I am truly delighted and thankful to my teammates, coaches, and the fans — this award belongs to all of them as well.”

Miraz reminisced about his earlier career success:

“Being named Player of the Tournament in the 2016 ICC Under-19 World Cup was a huge moment for me, and this latest award feels just as special. It motivates me to continue working hard and contributing to Bangladesh’s success.”

In the April series against Zimbabwe, Miraz showcased his all-round brilliance. He scored 116 runs at an average of 38.66 and picked up an outstanding 15 wickets at a stunning average of just 11.86.

In the first Test in Sylhet, Miraz claimed two five-wicket hauls, taking 5/52 and 5/50 in each innings. Despite his efforts, Bangladesh narrowly lost by three wickets.

However, the second Test in Chattogram saw Miraz at his absolute best. He smashed a crucial 104 off 162 balls and then demolished Zimbabwe’s batting line-up with figures of 5/32, securing a resounding innings-and-106-run victory for Bangladesh and leveling the series.

This recognition solidifies Miraz’s status as a key figure in Bangladesh cricket and a rising force on the global stage.
