KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Tuesday announced bank holiday on occasion of Kashmir Solidarity Day on February 05, 2021.

The SBP said that it would remain closed on February 05, 2021 (Friday) on the occasion of “Kashmir Solidarity Day”.

On this day, one-minute silence shall be observed at 10:00 a.m. to honor Kashmiris Shuhada, as announced by the Government of Pakistan.

The SBP communicated the announcement to all the presidents and chief executives of banks, development financial institutions and microfinance banks.

The public holiday on Kashmir Solidarity Day is observed every year across Pakistan to express support for the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to highlight their right to self-determination. All banks, financial institutions, and microfinance banks remained closed for public dealing during the holiday, while essential banking services such as ATMs and online banking facilities continued to operate.

Various rallies, seminars, and special events were also organized in different cities to show solidarity with Kashmiris. Government offices, educational institutions, and many private organizations observed the day with special prayers for peace and stability in the region. The annual observance reflects Pakistan’s continued diplomatic and moral support for the Kashmir cause at international forums.

Citizens also participated in human chains and awareness walks to pay tribute to the sacrifices made by the people of Kashmir.
