LAHORE: In a major step toward advancing digital education in Pakistan, Pearson-Edexcel and the Beaconhouse School System signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Wednesday to provide world-class assessment services and international academic qualifications to Pakistani students.
The signing ceremony took place at a local hotel in Lahore and marked the beginning of a strategic partnership aimed at enhancing student learning through globally recognized qualifications. The MoU was formally signed by Kasim Kasuri, Chief Executive of Beaconhouse, and Emma Whale, Vice President of Pearson Schools Qualifications. The event was attended by senior officials from both organizations, including Premila Paulraj, Director of Employability & Qualifications, Pearson South Asia, and Ali Ahmed Khan, Chief Operating Officer of Beaconhouse.
Under this partnership, Pearson will enable the digital transformation of International GCSE exams, allowing them to be conducted online through onscreen platforms. Additionally, Pearson’s Mocks Service will allow students to take mock exams that will be marked by official Pearson examiners, adding a layer of credibility and global standardization to the assessment process.
Initially, three Beaconhouse campuses will begin offering the Pearson Edexcel International GCSE qualifications, with plans to expand this initiative to more campuses in the near future. To support this rollout, Pearson will provide access to digital course materials and e-books across various subjects, as well as online training modules to help teachers adapt to the Pearson Edexcel curriculum.
Speaking at the event, Kasim Kasuri said, “At Beaconhouse, we have always sought to push the boundaries of academic excellence and global exposure for our students. This collaboration with Pearson is a step forward in providing cutting-edge learning opportunities.”
Emma Whale praised Beaconhouse for leading the way in Pakistan’s education sector and emphasized that the collaboration would open doors for students to access top-tier international education from their home country. She highlighted Beaconhouse as a pioneer in delivering quality education to over 315,000 students across Pakistan, noting its four-decade-long legacy of academic leadership and innovation.
This partnership is expected to usher in a new era of digital education, positioning Pakistani students to compete on a global academic stage.
