Hollywood’s favorite duo, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, are back on screen together in an intense new Netflix original film titled The Rip.
The streaming giant released the gripping trailer for the upcoming crime-thriller on Wednesday, September 10, 2025, sparking excitement among fans of the longtime collaborators.
The pair, who last appeared together in the 2023 film Air, now star as Miami police officers caught in a high-stakes situation. According to the film’s official synopsis, “Upon discovering millions in cash in a derelict stash house, trust among a team of Miami cops begins to fray. As outside forces learn about the size of the seizure, everything is called into question — including who they can rely on.”
Affleck and Damon as Producers
Not only do Affleck and Damon headline the cast, but they also take on the role of producers for The Rip, further showcasing their decades-long partnership that began with their Academy Award-winning screenplay for Good Will Hunting.
Affleck’s Career and Personal Life Update
For Ben Affleck, this project marks a significant milestone in his career. It is his second major release since officially parting ways with his ex-wife Jennifer Lopez earlier this year. The couple separated in August 2024, following a highly publicized split and legal battle. Prior to The Rip, Affleck starred in The Accountant 2, which premiered in theaters on April 25, 2025.
A Star-Studded Cast
Alongside Affleck and Damon, the film features a stellar supporting cast, including Steven Yeun, Teyana Taylor, Sasha Calle, Catalina Sandino Moreno, Scott Adkins, and Kyle Chandler. With such a lineup, The Rip promises to deliver suspense, drama, and powerhouse performances.
Release Date
Netflix has officially confirmed that The Rip will premiere on January 16, 2026, adding yet another anticipated title to its upcoming release slate.
With Affleck and Damon once again joining forces both on and off screen, The Rip is shaping up to be one of Netflix’s most talked-about crime thrillers of 2026.
